Reusable Shoe Covers at Antwerp Design Week: The Auping Dreamlab Story

During Antwerp Design Week 2026, reCovers had the opportunity to be part of the Auping Dreamlab, an immersive design experience created by Royal Auping in the heart of Antwerp.

For five days, visitors stepped into a calming environment where design, sleep comfort, and wellbeing came together. As part of the experience, guests wore reCovers reusable shoe covers while exploring the exhibition space.

For us, the collaboration demonstrated how sustainable products can become a natural part of premium customer experiences.

The Auping Dreamlab Experience

The Auping Dreamlab was created around Auping's philosophy of "designed for life", bringing together design, quality, sustainability, and more than 135 years of sleep expertise.

Located at The DOT House during Antwerp Design Week, the Dreamlab offered visitors a moment of calm within the rhythm of the city. Through thoughtful design and interactive experiences, guests were invited to explore Auping's vision for sleep, wellbeing, and sustainable living.

We were honoured that reCovers could contribute to that experience.

Reusable Shoe Covers for Events and Exhibitions

Exhibitions, showrooms, design events, and experiential spaces often need practical solutions to protect floors, installations, and carefully curated environments.

Traditionally, this has meant relying on disposable shoe covers that are used once and then discarded.

Reusable shoe covers offer a different approach.

At the Auping Dreamlab, reCovers helped protect the exhibition environment while providing visitors with a comfortable and practical alternative to single-use plastic shoe covers.

The result was a solution that aligned with both the aesthetic and sustainability ambitions of the space.

Sustainability and Customer Experience Can Work Together

One of the most exciting aspects of this collaboration was seeing how seamlessly sustainability could be integrated into the visitor journey.

Often, sustainability initiatives are viewed as something separate from customer experience. The Dreamlab demonstrated the opposite.

Thoughtful details, such as reusable shoe covers, can support sustainability goals while also contributing to a premium and well-designed visitor experience.

For brands investing in events, exhibitions, retail spaces, and showrooms, these small details can have a meaningful impact.

Circular Solutions for Design Spaces

At reCovers, we believe practical products should be designed for repeated use.

Our reusable shoe covers are made from high-quality upcycled leftover fabrics and provide an alternative to disposable shoe covers commonly used at events, exhibitions, showrooms, healthcare facilities, offices, and other visitor environments.

By replacing single-use products with reusable alternatives, organisations can reduce waste, support their sustainability goals, and create more thoughtful customer experiences.

Looking Ahead

We are incredibly grateful to Goedele Vanneste and the team at Royal Auping for the opportunity to be part of the Auping Dreamlab during Antwerp Design Week.

The collaboration showed how sustainability, design, and customer experience can work together in practical ways.

As more organisations look for ways to reduce reliance on single-use products, we believe reusable solutions will become an increasingly natural part of exhibitions, events, retail environments, and premium customer experiences.
